Exciting Updates from PDA Staff

The coming new year is bringing exciting changes for our staff at PDA!

Brendan Cox is returning as Chief of Police

Brendan Cox, LEAD Support Bureau Director of Policing Strategies, served for twenty-three-years with the Albany, New York police department, where he retired as Chief of Police in 2017 before joining the LEAD Support Bureau. For the past seven years, Brendan has played a vital role in advising and supporting jurisdictions across the country in launching and sustaining LEAD and LEAD-like programs. Earlier this year, Brendan was asked to return to his role as Chief of Police for the Albany Police Department on an interim basis and he graciously accepted. We are incredibly proud of Chief Cox and while he will be sorely missed at the Support Bureau, we know that he will be doing important work shepherding the Albany Police Department!

Chad Winfrey joins the LEAD Support Bureau

The LEAD Support Bureau will be joined by former Department of Corrections Specialist Chad Winfrey.  Specialist Winfrey was a key partner in LEAD’s early years, when he worked as a part of the Neighborhood Corrections Initiative (NCI) team, a DOC partnership with the Seattle Police Department. Officer Winfrey and his team were important LEAD partners, attending weekly Operational Workgroup Meetings (OWG) and working closely with case managers, prosecutors, and other stakeholders in making, tracking, and supporting LEAD referrals. He brings a keen eye for impediments to progress and ideas for resolving them. His experience and perspective will be a great asset to the Bureau team!

Patricia Sully is our newest Deputy Director

In January, Patricia Sully will move into a Deputy Director position at PDA, shifting from her current role as the Chief Strategy and Campaign Officer. She will oversee national technical assistance efforts.
