Background
On August 10, 2026, the Washington Policy Center’s Eric Zimmerman began distributing a document titled “National Retraction Brief: Widespread and systematic factual errors in Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD),” which in part alleges that the published findings of the HaRRT Center’s LEAD evaluation are inaccurate and that the program’s evidence base does not support its adoption. This response addresses those allegations from the perspective of the evaluators who conducted the work.
