Ashley Nerbovig

Advocacy & Development Officer

Ashley is dedicated to diverting people out of jails and prisons and instead toward stability. She began her career as a reporter with a focus on the legal system and politics, working for publications such as The Marshall Project and The Detroit Free Press. She’s covered topics related to mental health care in jails and prisons, safety for tribal nations, and policing.

Born and raised in Seattle, she returned in 2022 and worked as a reporter covering the intersection of politics and public safety. Prior to joining PDA she organized health care workers for SEIU 775 where she helped Michigan healthcare workers win the largest union victory since the 1940s.
