I was born and raised on a dairy farm near Tillamook, Oregon. I grew up playing basketball and football and being outdoors as much as possible. I moved to Seattle in 2002, where I eventually enrolled into Seattle University. I graduated with honors in 2007 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a minor in Philosophy. My professional career in law enforcement started shortly after with the Washington State Department of Corrections, where I accepted a position as a Community Corrections Officer (Parole Officer). In 2013, I was promoted to Specialist (Detective) and worked on our specialty team, the Community Response Unit (CRU). CRU’s primary function is fugitive apprehension. While working with CRU I also served as an instructor for arrest planning, entry tactics, and firearms. It was during my first assignment with CRU at the Seattle Police Department that I was introduced to the LEAD program. I was immediately drawn to the collaborative nature of the program. I saw stakeholders that would otherwise be very siloed sitting at the table together at Operational Work Groups problem solving and working together for a greater good in terms of both public safety and individual success. I am very happy to bring my 17 years of law enforcement experience and experience with the LEAD program to PDA and to the Lead Support Bureau, where I hope I can help support further collaboration on a national scale.
